About
You may be wondering why I've put Hume and Shepherd together - they are not even in the same century, although there is some overlap. Hume is firmly in the 18th century while Shepherd straddles the 19th century as well. Hume is surely an atheist and Shepherd a Christian. Well, not entirely, it's more nuanced than that. I think they are both agnostics, just different types. Hume is just agnostic whereas Shepherd is more theist-agnostic. But that's not the reason I put them together. The main reason is that Shepherd predominantly responds to Hume in her works therefore is highly relevant when looking at Hume. I have a blog for both of them and on the Shepherd one, you will find my Volume 1 ebook and part of my Volume 2 ebook on her. As far as Hume is concerned, I undertook a dissertation on him at university, which you can read on my Hume blog as well as on my academia.edu researcher profile page. On my academia.edu page, you will also find my abstracts, paper presentations and handouts on Hume and Shepherd. For one of my talks/papers, I combined Hume and Shepherd when discussing the topic of miracles. So in my mind, I perhaps see them more interlinked because her contras give us a fresh perspective on Hume.
